Emergency Aid and Disaster Victims Scholarships

 Students can apply to the scholarships below when the continuation of their studies at Keio University is threatened by sudden changes to household finances resulting from the unemployment or bereavement of the main financial supporter, or because of earthquakes, fires, or flooding. Students should first consult with the scholarship section that is located on each campus.

Keio University Degree Completion Scholarship

 This scholarship supports Keio students who face difficulties completing their studies for various economic reasons, such as sudden changes to household finances, continued impoverishment, or being the victim of a large scale natural disaster (major disaster). Undergraduate and graduate students at Keio University who are expected to complete their studies are eligible to apply (recruits twice a year in June and November).

*Undergraduate and graduate students who face difficulties continuing their studies due to being victims of the Kumamoto earthquakes (2016) should apply for this scholarship.

Year 2000 Commemorative Education Fund Emergency Scholarship

 This is a donor designated scholarship that supports Keio students who face difficulties continuing their studies at Keio University due to sudden changes to household finances resulting from the unemployment or bereavement of the main financial supporter. Current undergraduate students at Keio University are eligible to apply (excluding international students) (recruits twice a year in May and November).

Keio University Emergency Scholarship for Victims of Great East Japan Earthquake Disaster

 This scholarship supports Keio students who face difficulties continuing their studies due to sudden changes in household finances resulting from being a victim of the Great East Japan Earthquake and the main financial supporter of the household, or the students themselves if responsible for paying academic fees and expenses, reside in an area covered by the Disaster Relief Act for the Great East Japan Earthquake.

*The Keio University Emergency Scholarship for Victims of Great East Japan Earthquake Disaster is run using donations from Mita-kai and other alumni organizations, alumni, guarantors of Keio students, benefactors, and faculty and staff members to support Keio students who face financial difficulties continuing their studies due to being victims of the Great East Japan Earthquake.

Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO) Emergency Scholarship Loans Types 1 and 2

 These are JASSO scholarship loans. Students who have been affected by the following circumstances are eligible to apply if resulting in sudden changes to household finances. Applications are accepted at any time. First consult with the scholarship section on your campus.

•Unemployment or resignation/retirement of the main financial supporter of the household
•Bereavement of or separation from (divorce, disappearance, etc.) the main financial supporter of the household
•Bankruptcy of the main financial supporter of the household
•Significant rise in the expenditure or decrease in the income of the main financial supporter of the household due to sudden changes in household finances resulting from illness, accidents, corporate bankruptcy, economic downturns, etc.
•Significant rise in the expenditure or decrease in the income of the main financial supporter of the household due to being a victim of a disaster such as an earthquake, flooding, or fire, and are subject to application of the Disaster Relief Act or the Act on Interim Measures for Financing Farmers, Woodsmen and Fishermen Suffering from Natural Disasters, or is a victim of a disaster causing comparable damage.
